ANN JENEMANN: Master of the Western Landscape and Plein Air Oil Painting
“Nature is the ultimate teacher. Painting outdoors allows me to capture the raw, fleeting light and sweeping beauty of the American landscape in its purest form.”
Ann Jenemann is a celebrated contemporary landscape artist whose breathtaking original oil paintings capture the majesty, light, and enduring spirit of the American West. A dedicated plein air painter, Jenemann’s artwork invites viewers to step directly into the scene, offering a vibrant, authentic reflection of nature’s most compelling vistas.
From the Corporate World to the Canvas
Jenemann’s journey to becoming a highly collected fine artist is a testament to following one’s true calling. After dedicating ten years to a successful corporate career in market research and public relations, she made the courageous decision to leave it all behind and pursue her first and greatest love: art.
She earned her degree in drawing and painting from the University of Cincinnati, developing a flawless technical foundation. Her immense talent was recognized immediately, and she began exhibiting her traditional landscape paintings in prominent galleries shortly after graduation.
The Call of the West and Plein Air Mastery
Drawn by the dramatic skies, deep canyons, and rugged terrain of the American frontier, Jenemann relocated to Colorado to focus entirely on painting the contemporary Western landscape.
She is a devoted practitioner of plein air oil painting—the rigorous discipline of painting outdoors, directly from life. Jenemann frequently embarks on extensive road trips across the United States to capture diverse environments, from the rocky coasts of Maine and Cape Cod to the vast expanses of Texas and Wyoming. Her outdoor landscape paintings are celebrated for their energetic brushwork and immediate, authentic sense of place.
Mentorship, Memberships, and Collectibility
Committed to lifelong learning, Jenemann has continued to refine her craft by studying alongside noted landscape masters such as Skip Whitcomb, Bill Gallen, and Jill Carver. Her dedication to excellence has earned her signature status and memberships in highly prestigious art organizations, including the Oil Painters of America and the Outdoor Painters Society.
Today, Jenemann’s work—ranging from serene autumnal valleys to the iconic mesas of Ghost Ranch—is exhibited and collected by art enthusiasts from Maine to Mississippi.
