Evelyne Boren (a native of Munich, Germany) enjoys worldwide recognition for her impressionistic interpretations of life, people and scenes of the Southwest, Mexico and Europe in watercolor and oil paintings.
EVELYNE BOREN: Renowned Impressionist of the Southwest and Beyond
Evelyne Boren’s life reads like an adventure story, and that same vibrant, fearless energy translates directly onto her canvases. A native of Munich, Germany, Evelyne is celebrated worldwide for her impressionistic oil and watercolor paintings, capturing the lively spirit, rich cultures, and breathtaking landscapes of the American Southwest, Mexico, and Europe.
From Hollywood Stuntwoman to Master Painter
Before embarking on her highly successful, full-time career as a professional fine artist, Evelyne led a thrilling aquatic career. She worked as an underwater stunt double in the iconic James Bond films Thunderball and You Only Live Twice, and made history as the first woman in the world to swim with a killer whale in the movie Namu the Killer Whale. Her stunt work even led to appearances on classic television shows like What’s My Line, To Tell The Truth, Sea Hunt, Aquanauts, and Flipper, where she helped train the show’s star dolphin.
It was during these extraordinary adventures that Evelyne discovered her true calling. While filming on location in the Bahamas in 1962, the breathtaking colors and natural beauty of the islands stirred a deep desire within her to express her experiences through art.
Signature Style and Global Recognition
Driven by incredible enthusiasm and discipline, Evelyne transitioned from the screen to the easel. While she has studied alongside several important artists, she has cultivated a highly sought-after, impressionistic painting style that is strictly her own. Collectors are drawn to her masterful use of light and color, whether she is creating vibrant Southwestern landscapes, vivid scenes of traditional Mexican life, or romantic European vistas.
Her dedication to authentic, raw beauty was recognized globally in 1990 when she entered a prestigious plein air competition in Roussillon, France. Tasked with creating artwork using only locally mined burnt sienna, raw sienna, and yellow ocher pigments, Evelyne—the only foreigner in the competition—took home first prize, triumphing over forty renowned French artists.
A Legacy of Collectible Fine Art
Today, Evelyne Boren is a staple of the Santa Fe fine art scene. With more than 4,000 original paintings held in prestigious private and corporate art collections around the world, her work represents both an emotional investment in beauty and a highly collectible piece of contemporary impressionism.
Evelyne continues to draw inspiration from her surroundings, maintaining permanent working studios in the historic art hub of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the vibrant coastal town of Sayulita, Mexico.
