A Musical Peace is a 48×48 inch acrylic on canvas painting by Edward Gonzales completed in September 2022 in New Mexico. The painting depicts four Hispanic musicians in turn of the century attire: one older man with white hair and a beard plays the violin, a younger man plays the guitar, a young woman plays the guitar and a small boy is playing a bass viola. A dog sleeps contentedly between the two men. Painting is completed in an expressive style using broad brush strokes in the foreground and background. The Sandia mountains in Albuquerque are in the background. The Center of the painting is done with broad brushstrokes in reds, pinks, and yellows. Use of strong pinks throughout. Artist’s signature lower left.

Twilight Reflections is a 48×36 inch acrylic on canvas painting by Edward Gonzales, completed and copyrighted on October 26, 2022. Part of the artist’s ‘Llano’ series of paintings depicting the open landscape of the plains of Northeastern New Mexico, where the Gonzales family has ties. A Hispanic cowboy, his horse, and a sheepdog view the setting sun from a rise. He is reflecting on his life as the setting sun reflects on the meandering stream. Across from the stream is his adobe home, a light shines through one small window, and the sky is full of color, lit with pinks, oranges, and yellows. The earth is painted in somber colors with muted browns and green Chamisa. Blue mountains on the horizon divide the painting. The artist’s signature bottom left.
